The Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN) offers five classes of membership: Ordinary, Corporate, Student, Honorary, and Life
SSSN maintains bilateral relationships with sister societies and organizations both nationally and internationally. This includes holding a healthy membership in the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) and fostering good working relationships with organizations like the FAO, Soil Values, AGRA, IITA, OCP, NESTLE, INDORAMA and IFDC.
(SSSN) significantly impacts Nigerian agricultural development through its activities. A key strategy is rotating its annual scientific meetings across the country. This policy enables members to study the important agricultural soils of the host states firsthand

SSSN conducts vital research and education to understand and protect the health of Nigerian soil. Our work provides the scientific foundation necessary for sustainable farming, maximizing crop yields, and ensuring long-term food security and national prosperity.
Advancing Study: The mission is to advance the study of soil, promoting and fostering understanding of both basic and applied Soil Science nationally and internationally.

Maintains membership in the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) . Works in close collaboration with the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science (NISS)
Supports students and young soil scientists through their various programs and activities.
It enhances the spread of knowledge in all aspects of Soil Science through various Annual Conferences and Publications
Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN) came into existence in 1969 by the efforts of a group of soil scientists who shared a common aspiration of promoting the knowledge and practice of soil science with following objectives:
Showcase the SSSN's global standing by listing its affiliations with major international organisations, such as the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS).
Mention collaborations and partnerships with other regional or global soil science societies and research institutes (like IITA or others mentioned in the document), demonstrating the society's international reach and influence.
Highlight the official journal of the Society, the Nigerian Journal of Soil Science (NJSS), as the primary peer-reviewed platform for publishing cutting-edge research in soil science and related disciplines.
Include a call for papers, access to the current and archived issues, and the publication frequency to position the SSSN as a leader in academic research dissemination.
Feature the Annual Conference, Congress, or Scientific Meeting as the society's flagship event.
Share details about the most recent or upcoming conference, including the theme, location, dates, and opportunities for sponsorship and abstract submission. This emphasises the society's role in fostering scientific discourse and professional networking.
