The Soil Science Society of Nigeria, in its 47th Annual Conference hosted at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, also conferred a merit award to Prof. Walter O. Enwezor formally of the Department of Soil Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Prof. Walter O. Enwezor was born on 3rd of November, 1936 in Awkuzu, Anambra State. He attended the prestigious University of Ibadan, where he obtained both the Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (Second Class Upper) and the Master’s degree in Soil Science, from 1955 to 1962. He proceeded to Imperial College, London where he graduated with a PhD in Soil Chemistry in 1964. He earned a diploma at the same Imperial College, in 1962.

Prof. Walter O. Enwezor was employed as lecturer in Soil Science in the University of Ibadan in 1964. He was in Ibadan up to 1966 before moving to UNN, Nsukka.

Prof. Walter O. Enwezor was appointed as a lecturer in Soil Science in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1966 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 1978.

The new Merit Awardee is a member of so many professional associations and societies, both local and international and is listed in the University of Nigeria, Book of Fame ((Volume One).

Prof. Walter O. Enwezor is happily married with children.
